How to Install the Roof Antenna Base
on my 1998-2009 Beetle

Get the New Part and do it yourself for less than the VW Dealer will charge ... You don't have to take the headliner out entirely to Install a New Base or Gasket ................

    1. Open the hatch, and pull down on the trim which is at the back of the headliner. It will pop right off. Don't pull to hard as the plastic mounting clips can break or bend.

    2. Pull the headliner tabs (the center ones) down.

    3. Then unplug the antenna wires,  You'll see a nut, unscrew it, its a 22mm Nut.  Remove the antenna base, and replace it with the New One, along with the Gasket.

    4. Pop the headliner tabs back in.

    5. There will be some metal clips which will need to be pulled out of the roof. Remove them all, and insert them in the slots on the trim piece which you initially removed.

    6. Line up the metal clips with the holes in the ceiling, and push them in.

    7. That's it. Shouldn't take more than about 30 minutes.
